June 2017: Update & Citrus Sun/Thames River Soul Japan tour and DJ set 🇯🇵🍣 ● Recent Love Supr

Citrus Sun played two back to back shows at The Hideaway in South London last month featuring Imaani, a recuperating Jim Mullen and guest appearances from Splash Blue Productions' signee Moya Morris. These shows were really well received and no doubt we will be returning to play there again before long. I can't believe that in the years that The Hideaway has been open, that I have never been until now and I think it's a really fantastic venue. If I didn't live on the other side of London (traffic is murder on a Friday afternoon!) I'd make myself a local and see some live bands perform there. I'm not getting paid to say this! 😂 I could park my car in the car park - I'm not used to that in London, although it's not quite the West End! And I got to finally see the famous 25x life-sized tribute to Imaani that adorns one of the walls but somehow I forgot to take a selfie in front of it which of course means IT DIDN'T HAPPEN! Oh well, maybe some other time!

A couple of weeks ago I got to DJ at the Love Supreme Festival alongside Bluey on vocals and percussion and Matt Cooper on keys. This 4 hour set was originally supposed to be a soundclash of sorts between Bluey and myself versus Andrew Levy and Simon Bartholomew of The Brand New Heavies, however they had to pull out unfortunately so we willingly filled the space, accepted victory by default 😋😉😘 and had the very good fortune of being joined at the last minute by vocalist Andre Espeut and also by Vula Malinga and Sharlene Hector from LaSharVu who shared the mic duties with Bluey (and at one point an exuberant Matt!) I can't tell you how much fun that was. Actually I can - allot! 🤓 Our set closed the festival on the Sunday night but we stayed the entire weekend...

And now it's that time again... time to fly to my favourite (well, in my top three!) destinations on the planet, 🇯🇵 J a p a n 🇯🇵 . This time it's also with Citrus Sun and we'll be joined on vocal by none other than Joy Rose, her first time playing this set. Incognito will be returning to Japan at the end of the year (early December I believe), but the last time we performed the Citrus Sun set in Japan was with Imaani on vocals and as backing band to flautist Bobbi Humphrey.

w/Jim Mullen. Jim is recovering from important surgery and is doing a few local gigs but unfortunately can't make it to Japan this month

w/Moya Morris who performed her debut single 'Communicate' with us

This will also be the premiere performance of material from our Thames River Soul project on Splash Blue. Thames River Soul is the new project of "the three Fras", Francesco Mendolia, Francisco Sales and myself.

I leave for Japan ahead of most of the band to play two DJ sets with Bluey, one at Cafe 104.5 in Tokyo and the other at Brooklyn Parlour in Osaka. The rest of the tour will include six shows over three nights in Tokyo, Sapporo, Nagoya and for the first time Mizayaki. It's gonna be hot in Japan (even in Sapporo) and Mizayaki is by the sea, so I might even make it to a Japanese beach for the first time in about 18 visits! Those of us in Incognito will be travelling directly after the final Citrus Sun show in Sapporo to Brindisi in Italy for two shows (one in Ceglie Messapica, the other in Cosenza). FH
